Aunt Clara UFO Quilted!

Zuerst aber:

heute kam ganz tolle Weihnachtspost von Elfriede, lieben Dank für die tolle Überraschungen! Noch dazu ein Muster für´s 366 Häuser 2012 zum gleich loslegen...ob ich das auch noch schaffe?! Könnte es probieren. :o) Link/Bild hier rechts dafür, wer noch Lust hat!

But first:  I got a great little Christmas package today from Elfriede, thanks so much for all the lovely surprises! Included is a pattern ready-to-cut and -sew, so I can get started with the 366 Houses in 2012 right off...I wonder if I can manage that this year, too? Well, I can give it a try. The button for it is here at the right, for anyone interested!

Vor Monate schon mit dem Hand-Patchen fertig, wartete mein Aunt Clara Top auf Fertigung und gestern habe ich das Kuschelgeschenk für Uli + Jürgen fertig genäht!

My Aunt Clara quilt top has been waiting to be completed ever since I finished the hand-piecing months ago and yesterday I finally completed Uli + Juergen´s cuddly quilt!

Und...vor 2 Monate habe ich nach Wünsch einer Matthias das 1.FCN Nürnberger Spruch gestickt, dann letzte Woche als Kissenbezug in seiner Lieblingsfarben gefertigt und geschenkt:

And...per Matthias´ request, I stitched the 1st Football Club of Nuremberg´s city motto a couple of months back, then last week finished it into a quilted pillowcase in his favorite colors and gave it to him:

Und an was habe ich heute gestichelt? Abends noch die restliche Blätter auf Renates Tischdeckchen appliziert. Morgen zeichne ich die Stiele zum Sticken...

And what stitching did I do today? This evening I finished appliquéing the last of the leaves onto Renate´s tabletopper. Tomorrow I´ll draw on the stems for embroidering...

...with a little help from Ruby, of course. :o)

Happy New Year 2012!

Wilkommen zur ersten Tag des Jahres! Was macht Ihr denn am 01.01.2012? Gleich arbeite ich weiter an ein Geschenk für Renate, die sich ein Tischdeckchen gewünscht hat. Die Rosenteile sind vorbereitet und heute fange ich das heften und applizieren an.

Welcome to the first day of the year! What are you up to today? I´ll soon continue working on a gift for Renate who requested a little tabletopper. So far I have the rose appliqués ready to place on the background, then this evening begin basting and appliqué.

Ich möchte auch "Just Takes 2" von Sentimental Stitches (Rot/Weiß Knopf rechts oben Blogseite) machen wenn es irgendwie geht und nebenbei 4 Sets Katzenblöcke (zum tauschen in April) nähen...und immer wieder ein UFO fertigen...und natürlich vieles andere noch. :o)

I´d love to start "Just Takes 2" from Sentimental Stitches (the red/white button top right of blog page) if at all possible... + somehow between projects manage to sew 4 sets of cat blocks to swap in April... + finish up a UFO every now and then... and of course so much more. :O)

Stell Euch vor, seit 9 Monate steht Shyrils Longarm bei mir und ich habe erst kurz vor Weihnachten mein erster Quilt darauf gequiltet! Bei neue Maschinen gibt es immer Problemchen durchzuarbeiten und Lernfehler...und ich hab das alles gern Shyril überlassen, ich wollte nichts kaputt machen!

So habe ich zum Verschenken ein paar große QuiltTops gefertigt auf dem ich üben kann und als erstes Robins "Dragons Rule" drauf gequiltet.

Hard to believe, but Shyril´s longarm has been up in my studio for 9 months and I only just tried my first quilt on it a few days before Christmas! There are always bugs to work thru on new machines and equipment as well as the little problems you cause while you´re learning to work with it...and I certainly didn´t want to be the one who broke something, was quite happy to let Shyril figure it all out and deal with it!

So in the meantime I managed to make a few big quilt tops to practice on and pass around to friends, the first of which is "Dragons Rule" for Robin:

Da bin ich wieder Anfänger, muss echt viel üben, geht so wahnsinnig schnell und meine Hände sind so weit vom Quilt weg...ich werde versuchen, mich dran zu gewöhnen aber kleinere Quilts werde ich auf jeden Fall weiterhin auf mein Pfaff frei-quilten!

The experience shows that I´m once again a complete beginner and will have to have an awful lot of practice quilting on the longarm before I´m happy with my work--it all happens just too fast and my hands are so far away from the quilt top, seems to have a mind of its own. I´ll try of course to get used to it quilting a few more bed quilts but one thing´s clear: anything smaller than that will be free-motioned on my Pfaff. :o)

Schöne Feiertage / Happy Holidays!

Forgot to show you the new studio arrangement...

Heute habe ich diese gespeicherte Fotos entdeckt, die ich Euch noch nicht gezeigt habe...also könnt Ihr nun sehen, wie´s zum Schluss organisiert ist. So ist es sehr praktisch zu arbeiten und ich finde schneller alles!
Heute ist ein Feiertag und ich hab´s frei gehalten, dass ich auch mal zum nähen komme...frohes Schaffen!
Looking thru my files today, I discovered these photos I saved but hadn´t shown on the blog yet...so now you can see how we finally organised everything. The way it is now, it´s so much more practical for us all working in there and I can find everything much quicker!
Today´s a holiday and I kept my schedule free for the day to get some sewing done for once...happy quilting everyone!

Tante Clara Quilt Top finished!

Es war mir in letzter Zeit zu heiß aber ich hab´s trotdem geschafft, mein Tante Clara Top fertig zu nähen, Endgröße ca. 160x200cm. Habe leider so gut wie keine Freizeit im Moment aber sobald ich ein paar Stunden dafür klauen kann, möchte ich damit mein Debut aufdem Q-Drive machen und das Quilten damit darauf üben.
Even though it´s been so hot lately, I managed to finish hand-sewing my Aunt Clara quilt top, size approx. 63x79inches.  Unfortunately I´m so busy these days but as soon as I can steal a few hours for quilting it, I want to practice (finally, for the first time!) using the Qdrive to do so.

Beim fotographieren schlich sich ein Tiger ran...so ist das Bild natürlich viel interessanter, Du hast Recht Ruby! (Wie immer, will sie ja nur helfen... :o))
A little tiger crept up while I took the photo...which of course makes for a much more interesting picture, you´re so right Ruby! (She´s only trying to help, as usual... :o))

Zurück zu Juni...ziemlich viel genäht und kein Fotoapparat gehabt! Nachträglich...zuerst ein Kissen für ein Freund der operiert wurde:
Back to June...I´d sewn quite a lot but didn´t have a camera! Some belated photos...first, a pillow for a friend who needed it in hospital:

2. Geschenk im Juni war eine Schultertasche passend dazu eine aufgerollte Einkaufstüte für beste Freundin Sylvia:

Und in Juli habe ich endlich Heidis 2.Tischdecke gefertigt--war sie froh, die Weihnachtstischdecke für diese Blumen austauschen zu können!

In July, I finally finished Heidi´s 2nd table quilt--and was she ever glad to replace the Christmas one with these flowers and teddies!

Auch in Juli habe ich 2 Herz-Geburtstagsblöcke (FM 15x15cm) für Iris gemacht...und weil sie gestern groß feierte, darf ich sie jetzt zeigen:
Also in July I made 2 heart birthday blocks (finished size 6x6 inches) for Iris...which, since her big party was yesterday, I may now show you:

Wie ich, mag sie Drachen! She likes dragons, just like me!
Nur noch ein Foto extra für Quiltcat--so erkennt sie ein paar ihre Geschenke, eins lässt Ruby nur manchmal in Ruhe hängen. :o)
One more picture just for Quiltcat--she may recognise a couple of her gifts hanging in it, one of which Ruby occasionally tries to unhang. :o)

New camera, I can take photos again!

Vor lange Zeit hat irgendjemand (die Kinder meinen, es kann nur eine Katze Schuld haben :o)) unser alte Kamera fallen lassen und es sind Wochen vergangen....
Endlich wieder ein Kamera zur Hand, brauchte ich eine Weile mich dran zu gewöhnen. Weil ich letztens eine Neue für meine Sammlung gekauft habe, zeige ich Euch erst meine Gargoyles (gotische Wasserspeier mit Fratzengesicht).
Bald gibt´s wieder quiltiges zu sehen, schöne neue Woche and hugs!

A long time back, someone (both kids claim one of the cats did it :o)) let our camera fall and since then weeks have gone by...
Finally got a camera again but needed a while to get used to it. Since I recently added a new one to my collection, first I´ll show you my gargoyles!
I´ll add another quilty entry soon but until then, have a great start to the new week and hugs!

Another fuzzy one, Ruby, 2 -- plus my first (and heaviest!) gargoyle

little gargoyle number 2 is only about 14cm tall

gargoyles 3 and 4 are small and medium-sized but very light--made of resin

also made of resin, gargoyle 5 is about 23cm tall

and my newest is heavy, lugged home from a fleamarket, wish he had little horns! :o)
