...aber meine Nähmaschine hat lange genug Pause gemacht. Im neuen Jahr habe ich Davids 2 Kissenbezüge nachgeholt (aus Reste v. NOV patriotischer Quilt):

...but my sewing machine was calling, the break is over. Starting the year off, I´ve caught up by making David´s pillow covers (out of scraps from his NOV patriotic quilt):

Sowie etwas, was länger auf mich wartet--habe die lieblings-Umhängetasche meiner Tochter repariert und jetzt auch nachgemacht, weil mir die 2-Reißverschluß mit Kette Lösung vorne so gut gefällt:

As well as something that´s been a long time coming--I repaired my daughter´s favorite bag and kept it until I could copy it for myself. I love the chained-2-zip look on the front panel!

Gestern schrieb ich meine erste Anleitung auf Denglisch dazu und habe als nächstes vor, die Anleitung zu testen in dem ich gleich noch eine solche Tasche nähe...

I wrote my first instructions in "Denglisch" for making this bag and the next step is to test the pattern by making another bag just like it...

Happy New Year 2013!

Über die Feiertage habe ich kaum genäht außer manchmal Abends per Hand appliziert--habe aber immer noch nicht nachgeholt, vielleicht bald...

 

I hardly did any sewing over the holidays except occasionally hand-appliqueing in the evenings--but I still haven´t caught up yet, soon...maybe!

Schöne Feiertage und guten Rutsch ins 2013! / Happy holidays and a great start to 2013!

Für alle Quilter-/innen ein Rennen gegen die Zeit...und morgen schon Heilige Abend! Trotz Maschinenstress habe ich fast alles geschafft und ich hoffe, Euch auch!
Am 12.12.12 habe ich Heidis fünf kleine Aufträge gefertigt:

It´s always a race against time for all quilters...and tomorrow already Christmas Eve! Even though I had some trouble with my sewing machine, I just about finished everything and hope that all of you have, too!
On 12.12.12 I finally finished Heidi´s five small before-Christmas orders:

...und dann konnte ich mit Shyrils Hilfe ein Babyquilt anfangen, die ich rechtzeitig fertigte und vorgestern bei einer Familiefeier Christina und Sebastian schenkte:

In der Zwischenzeit fertigte Ulli ihr patriotischer Americana Quilt Top und am 19.12. quiltete ich frei-hand-Sterne auf dem Longarm:

In the meantime Ulli finished her Americana quilt top, brought everything on the 19th and I longarm-quilted big wobbly stars all over it:

Und jetzt kann ich endlich zeigen, was ich über 70x zur Weihnachten schenkte, glücklicherweise in September schon zum größten Teil fertigte:  "Handy Lade-Taschen".
And now I can finally show here the Christmas gift I made (more than 70 times!), for the most part already finished back in September:  "Phone Charging Pockets".

10x18cm/ 4x7inches (+ made some larger for the taller Smart phones!)

Patriotic Red, White and Blue

Schwer zu glauben, aber ich quilte schon seit 20 Jahre (!) und habe jetzt zum ersten Mal (bin Amerikanerin!!) ein patriotischer Quilt gemacht!!!

 

It´s hard to believe but I´ve already been quilting for 20 years (!) and only now for the first time (keep in mind, I´m American!!) I´ve made a patriotic quilt!!!

Das Muster heißt "Serendipity", Schnellschneidetechnik die ich bei YouTube gesehen habe--

und ich habe 260 kleine Blöcke für andere Projekte übrig, also mache ich noch 2 passenden Kissen und...weiß nicht was noch daraus. :o)

Happy Birthday Julia, just finished your quilt! :o)

"Alles Gute zum Geburtstag Julia, hab Dein Quilt gerade fertig!"
(Sie kann gar kein Deutsch...egal. :o))
Julia ist eine alte Schulfreundin aus Chicago und braucht dringend etwas zum Kuscheln, also habe ich bunte Bänder (als Lasagna Quilt bekannt) geschmückt mit Hexagonblumen für sie gemacht.
Schnell fotographieren bevor sie eingepackt wird aaaaaber...tja, gibt es überhaupt Katzen, die ein Quilt auf dem Boden ignorieren können?!
Falls Du allergisch bist, Julia--erst nochmal waschen. :o)

Julia is an old school friend from Crystal Lake who desperately has need of a quilt to hug, so I´ve made colored bands for her (Jelly Roll Quilt Style) and scattered hexagon flowers all over it. Just wanted to take a quick pic before packing it to send but...well, does anybody out there even know a cat that can ignore a new quilt on the floor?!
In case you´re allergic, Julia--be sure to wash before hugging. :o)

More Bags--and Happy Halloween!

...aber eigentlich arbeite ich an Geschenke die vor Weihnachten gebraucht werden, dass ich danach an Weihnachtsgeschenke und Aufträge arbeiten kann.
Gerda, Christel, Shyril und ich haben uns 19.-21.10 in Schwarzwald bei Roter Bühl getroffen um Taschen zu nähen (Professional Tote by The Creative Thimble). Es ist immer toll zu sehen wie unterschiedlich mit andere Stoffe rauskommen, auch wenn wir alle die gleiche Muster haben--und klar sind alle wunderschön, schau doch:
...but mostly I´ve been working on gifts needed before Christmas, so that I can get started on the Christmas gifts and orders waiting for my attention.
Gerda, Christel, Shyril and I met at the Roter Buehl hotel in the Black Forest Oct. 19-21. We spent all weekend each making our own bag (Professional Tote by The Creative Thimble) and it´s always great to see how very different one looks from the other only due to using different fabrics though we all followed the same pattern. And of course each one is gorgeous, just take a look for yourselves:

 Wenn ich die Wahl hätte, wüßte ich nicht, welche ich aussuchen sollte!
Und ich zeige Euch auch die Fensterbilder (in CD Form) die wir gebastelt haben, um im Spiel zu tauschen--ich habe ein Weihnachtskätzchen und Vogel gewonnen, danke liebe Christel, hänge es erst wenn´s Halloween Deko weg ist! :o)

And I´ll show you the CD-Window Hangers we crafted, which we swapped in a game we like to play--and I won the Christmas kitty and bird, thanks Christel, will hang it up right after the Halloween decorations are put away! :o)

 Das ganze Wochenende dort haben wir wunderschönes Wetter genossen, oft die Fenster auf und regelmässig Katzenbesuch--hier sitzen 4 in der erste Reihe, und 2 davon sind ganz neue Patchcat Fans!
We enjoyed beautiful weather all weekend and when the windows were open we regularly had hotel kitties visiting while we sewed--here all in a row, and two of them are brand new Patchcat Groupies!

Halloween Quilt 2003

In letzter Zeit habe ich 70+ kleine Weihnachtsgeschenke in Arbeit aber hier wird davon noch nichts gezeigt...dafür habe ich ein Bild meines Halloween Quilts 2003 plus ein Foto des Siggis hinten--so sehe ich wer (nach Anordnung des Blocks genau, nicht spiegelverkehrt, platziert) welche Block gemacht hat. Damals war ich bei den Sternenquilter und online habe ich in 2003 an einen Geburtstags-Blocktausch (ich habe Halloween als Thema gewünscht) und einen Halloween-Blocktausch teilgenommen.
Recently I´ve been working on 70+ little Christmas giveaways but I´m not showing any of those here for awhile...so I snapped a shot of my 2003 Halloween Quilt plus a photo of the siggis on the back showing who made which blocks. Back then I was a member of a german online quilting group called the Sternenquilter and took part in two block swaps--one for birthday blocks (I wished for Halloween as my block theme) and one swap specifically for Halloween blocks.
