Zurück aus Linz / Back from Linz

Bevor ich in den Urlaub fuhr habe ich noch Heidis Tischquilt gefertigt--z.T. helle, romantische fliegende Gänse von einen 3 Sisters Jelly Roll "Lario" und rosa/pfirsich Rosen geändert von Marjorys Muster in den Ecken:

Katzenkorb und Babysachen... / Cat Basket and Baby Gifts...

Anfang April war ich mit den Patchcats in den Schwarzwald über´s WE und Rena Schindler zeigte uns wie wir Wäscheleine Körbchen/Taschen machen. Meins wurde erst später zu Hause fertig, hatte etwas übrig und machte ein Minikörbchen zum Verschenken daraus:

Over the first weekend of April I was in the Black Forest with the Patchcats for our annual meeting where Rena Schindler showed us how to make baskets/totes out of fabric-covered clothesline. I didn´t finish mine until later at home...and since I had some left over, I made a little basket to fill with goodies as a birthday gift:

Stoffe waren vorgewaschen und alles aber die Wäscheleine nicht und es stank ein bisschen. Mein Minikörbchen warf ich mit in der 60er Wäsche und danach mit Handtücher ganz im Trockner getrocknet. Der "Versuchskaninchen" hat alles perfekt überlebt, nichts eingegangen oder sonst etwas, ganz wie neu und stank so viel schöner, dass ich´s verschenken konnte. :o)
In der Zwischenzeit stand der große Korb zum Lüften draußen und als ich sie holen wollte, um auch in die Waschmaschine zu stopfen, war´s besetzt und ist unmissverständlich ein Katzenkorb geworden...vielleicht mach ich noch ein Kissen dafür...

The fabrics were prewashed but the clothesline wasn´t and so it had a funny chemical smell. I threw the little basket into the washing machine (hot water) and even dried it in the dryer. The little "Guinea pig" survived it all without shrinking, looked just like new and stank so much nicer that I could give it away as a gift. :o)
Meanwhile, the large basket had been outside airing and when I went out to grab it (to stuff it into the washing machine) I found it occupied! It has been taken over as a cat basket and I´m considering whether I should sew a little pillow for Ruby...

Was eine Menge Spaß gemacht hat, werde ich bestimmt nochmal machen müssen!--vor 2 Wochen habe ich ein Stoffkorb mit Trennwand für Evi genäht, gefüllt mit ein Haufen Babysachen für ihr Joshua (Divided Basket Pattern from Noodlehead):

I had a blast a couple of weeks ago making a divided basket (Divided Basket Pattern from Noodlehead) for Evi and filling it with a bunch of cute baby things for her tiny Joshua:

Mit appli-Krawatte auf dem Onesie, 4x Waschlappen (aus einen Handtuch geschnitten und mit Schrägband eingefasst), ein Wrummeltuch und 10x mini Pipi Tipis!

war quilten...endlich wieder bloggen :o) / was quilting...finally blogging again

Zwischen Krankheitsfälle habe ich etwas geschafft und heute hole ich mit viele Fotos nach--viel Spaß beim gucken!
I managed to do some sewing and quilting between colds lately and it´s time I caught up with a bunch of photographs--enjoy!

Ingrid schickte diesen Top z. Quilten, 187x242cm / 73x95inches, plus eine Menge Reste... 

...und ich machte die Reste-Rückseite und quiltete.
 

Ilse schickte diesen Top z. Quilten, 201x254cm / 79x100inches, plus Rückseite...

...die ich mit Reste vergrößert habe dann für sie quiltete.

Zwischenzeitlich fertigte ich einen weiteren Block des Vintage Flowers BOM:

Und vor dem PatchcatsTreff2013 im Schwarzwald letztes Wochenende habe ich ein Fensteraufhänger (alter CD +Vlies innen!) zum Wichteln gefertigt (plus eins extra als Andrea Geschenk :o)) und ein kleiner Quillow für einen tapferen Junge, die Autos und Bälle mag (und mit seinen Hund spielen!):

And before the Patchcats meeting in the Black Forest last Weekend I made a decoration (for hanging in a window or elsewhere, has an old CD and some batting inside...) to swap with a friend at the meeting (plus one more to give Andrea for her birthday :o)) as well as a quick quillow for Susanne to deliver to a brave little boy who likes cars and balls (and playing with his dog!):

In letzter Zeit nicht viel geschafft aber jetzt geht´s weiter! Ich arbeite an Aufträge und in der Zwischenzeit zeige ich das bisschen was ich vor der Grippe gemacht habe:

 Meine liebste Andrea häkelt in letzter Zeit gaaaaaanz gerne und meinte, jetzt wo die Granny Squares wieder so populär sind, sollte ich ein altes Werk zeigen. 1989-1990 BK (in der "Bevor-Kinder-Zeit" :o)) habe ich aus Wollreste eine Decke gehäkelt--damals hatte ich noch kein Patchwork gemacht aber meine Vorliebe für Restedecken ist schon offentsichlich!

 

My dearest Andrea loves crocheting and wanted me to show my Granny Squares afghan, now that those blocks are so popular again! I made this out of leftover bits of yarn back in 1989-90 BK (Before Kids :o)), back before I started patchwork and quilting--but my preference for scrappy work is certainly obvious, even then!

Vor fast 20 Jahre habe ich mich mit der Patchwork/Quilting Virus angesteckt und alles andere--Häkeln, Stricken usw.--aufgegeben, also weiß ich inzwischen gar nicht mehr wie´s geht und ich habe keine Anleitung, tut mir leid! Aber online gibt´s viele Tutorials und Bilder zu gucken, viel Spaß and happy Stichelei, liebe Quiltfreunde!

 

Nearly 20 years ago I got caught with the patchwork and quilting virus, giving crochet and knitting and such, so I don´t know anymore how I made that and I have no instructions, sorry! But there are many tutorials and pictures to look thru online, happy surfing and happy stitching to all my dear quilting friends!

Sylvia´s Quilt only 2 days late...

...dabei sind mir fast alle gebrannte Orange-Stoffe ausgegangen, muss ich bald wieder nachfüllen. :o)
Schon vor über ein Jahr habe ich Jennys Kurve-Lineal bestellt und hab´s endlich ausprobieren können--einen Ketten-Design für Sylvias Quilt. Hier könnt Ihr viele tolle moderne Quilts von Sew Kind of Wonderful anschauen und Muster dazu sogar per PDF bestellen, auch bei Jennys "Curve It Up" mit-quilten-Projekt (der Knopf hier bei mir oben rechts zu klicken) mitmachen:

Over a year ago I ordered Jenny´s Curve Ruler and only now got around to trying it out--a chain design for Sylvia´s quilt. siggi, gestreifte Stoff sind Sylvias Gardinenreste

Ich habe die neue Micro-Griffe auf Shyrils Longarm probiert, wilde Federn alle Art freihand und dicht gequiltet (ganz dünnes Vlies innen) aber nicht gut fotografieren können--beim Siggi Foto ist etwas nur zu erkennen.

I tried out the new Micro Handles on Shyril´s longarm, freely quilting wild feathering over the whole quilt densely (used a thin polyester batt). I couldn´t photograph the quilting well enough but you can see a little on the siggi picture above.

Noch ein Vintage Flowers Block hand-appliziert, arbeite ans Nächste nebenbei...und schaue oben in der nächste Quiltkiste, Ilse und Ingrid warten auf ihre Quilts. :o)

Another hand-applique block from the Vintage Flowers BOM is finished, working on the next...and I´m off to look in the next box of quilts, Ilse and Ingrid are waiting for them to be quilted! :o)

2 Quilted Tops Home with their Makers!

Ulli´s Mom´s Quilt, 165 x 211 cm

Zuerst kam Ullis dran, Polarfleece Rückseite gepatcht und dickes Volumenvlies musste ich auch vergrößern. Ich habe spärlich quilten sollen also malte ich große pantograph Muster--Federn für außen und eine schnorkelige Muster für innen:
Ulli´s was next on my project list, patched the fleece backing and had to baste on an extra strip to the super-hi-loft batting. No dense quilting for this batting, so I had to draw up some airy pantograph patterns to quilt--a feather for the outside border and a winding vine pattern for the rest:

border feather, about 4-1/2 inches height (11cm hoch)

vine panto is about 15 inches height (37 cm hoch)

Evas Quilting sieht man kaum, weil ich vorne sehr hell rosa und hinten dunkelrot (passend zur Stoffe) gequilted habe aber ich habe die gleiche große Muster drauf gequiltet, wie oben bei Ullis:
Eva´s quilting is almost invisible because I used light pink and dark red threads front and back to blend into the fabrics, but I used the same large patterns as above on Ulli´s quilt:

Jetzt arbeite ich so schnell ich kann an Sylvias Geburtstagsquilt! 234 Kurven-Blöcke werden gepatcht und muss bis 14FEB fertig sein...
Now I´m sewing 234 curve blocks for Sylvia´s birthday quilt and trying to finish it as fast as I can--her birthday is on 14FEB!

Busy busy 2013...

...kontrollierte meine Notizen dazu und machte Pamelas Tasche noch einmal aber hatte wieder andere Schwierigkeiten beim Reißverschlüß-Panel, werde beim nächsten Versuch etwas einfacheres probieren... Keine Zeit aber gerade, muss warten bis ein paar andere Projekte fertig sind!
...I checked the notes I´d written for making Pamela´s bag and tested them by making another, though I had some trouble again constructing the double zip-panel piece. I hope to resolve that with a simpler solution next time I try it--but no time now, got other projects that have been waiting...

2nd bag, 35x38cm

Dann machte ich eine Windel-/Wickeltasche für Marcel + Nadine, das Mädchen soll bis Ende Februar da sein!
Then I made a diaper bag for Marcel + Nadine. Their baby girl is due toward the end of February:

Nadine´s Diaper Bag, 14 x 14 x 5 inches, adapted from the Professional Tote Pattern and made more "mommy-ish" than "baby-ish." :o)

...und gleich habe ich noch meinen schönsten Eulenstoff für Gingers Heilendes Herz Block benutzt, weil ihr Lieblingsfarbe Lila ist...
...and then I appliqued a healing heart for Ginger using my prettiest owls fabric, since her favorite color is purple:

Jetzt darf ich Sylvias Geburtstagsquilt machen, freue mich drauf endlich eine neue Schablone zu probieren und wieder mal zu patchen!
And 2 Tops longarm-quilted and sent--but waiting with photos until both are home where they belong. :o)
Now I can finally make Sylvia´s birthday quilt, have been looking forward to using a new curve template for a long time and happy to do some piecing again!
