Urlaub...Quilting...Vacation...

...also, mein Urlaub war schon vorbei als die Männer aus Italien zurückkamen aber denen ihren Urlaub lange nicht; das heißt, dass ich kaum ans Computer komme (auch spät nachts!) und auch wenig Zeit zum Nähen habe. Trotzdem habe ich viel in letzter Zeit geschafft und habe einige Fotos gesammelt, die ich noch nicht gezeigt habe.
Anfang Juli habe ich Christines Lila Kreise Quilt gequiltet und endlich hat sie ihn auch, hoffentlich meldet sie sich bald und sagt, dass ich Fotos veröffentlichen darf.
Die andere Projekte die ich noch nicht gezeigt habe sind:
...well, my vacation was over the day my guys came back from Italy but theirs wasn´t over yet...which means I hardly have a turn at the computer (even late at night, as I usually do!) and also little time for sewing. I finished quite a lot during my vacation though and have several photos saved that I haven´t shown here yet.
In the beginning of July I quilted Christine´s Purple Circles quilt and she´s finally gotten it recently. Hopefully she´ll get in touch soon and let me know it´s okay to publicize a picture of her quilt so I can show you.
The other projects I haven´t shown you yet are:

Heidi hat ihr Ecktischdeckchen noch nicht und freut sich, hier zumindest erstmal zu sehen; Claudia hat ihr Quilt schon mit der Post bekommen und ist sehr glücklich; und ich weiß noch nicht ob Ullis Quilt schon bei ihr ist aber ich denke, ihr Tochter freut sich bestimmt, dass es bald fertig wird!
Heidi hasn´t been able to pick up her corner table quilt yet but she´s looking forward to seeing it here ín the meantime; Claudia already received her quilt in the mail and is very happy; and I don´t know if Ulli got her quilt yet but I´m sure her daughter is really happy it´ll soon be finished!

Mein Tochter bekommt 2 neue Bettbezüge und die vier 80x80cm Kissenbezüge zauberte ich zu acht 40x80cm Kissenbezüge, welche ich NICHT fotographierte--meine Reißverschlussarbeiten sind nicht besonders schön! Dafür kann ich zum Schluss ein paar schöne Blumen zeigen...habe zwar beim Vintage Blumen BOM noch nicht aufgeholt aber 4 weitere sind inzwischen appliziert:
I did NOT photograph the 4 pillow covers for my daughter that I altered this evening--recut and sewed to make 8 of the right size for her 2 new sets of bedclothes...the zippers I inserted are nothing to brag about! But I´m happy to show some pretty flowers at last--though I haven´t caught up with the Vintage Flowers BOM, I got 4 more blocks appliqued so far:

1. von 6 in 8 Tage! / 1st of 6 in 8 Days!

Meine Männer sind in Italien also habe ich die Woche frei genommen und genieße es sehr, mal alleine zu Hause zu sein! Gelistet sind  6 Aufträge und Geschenke in der Nähzimmer-Warteschlange an die ich jetzt arbeite (brav zeige ich sie Euch auch :o)) und das erste kann ich heute schon abhaken:
My guys went to Italy so I took the week off and I´m really enjoying my time at home alone! There are 6 projects on my sewing room waiting list that I´ll be working on this week (and showing you :o)) and today I can already cross off the first on the list:

Frank´s Country Roads quilt, 145 x 200 cm, 57 x 78 inches

Ich kaufte das hand-applizierte mittlere Teil fertig aus USA, Shyril hat Stoffe von Frank rundum genäht, heute habe ich´s mit dicken Volumenvlies gequiltet ... und ich hoffe, dass Shyril noch Stoff genug von Frank hat, um´s Schragband zu machen ...und noch mehr hoffe ich, dass Shyril der Quilt fertigen möchte bevor sie´s Frank gibt! *grins!*

I bought the hand-appliqued center medallion online from the USA, Shyril sewed on a border from fabrics Frank brought her ... and I hope that Shyril still has enough fabric left over from Frank to make the bias to finish it ... and I hope even more that Shyril feels like binding it too, before she passes the quilt on to Frank! *bighopefulgrin!*

Ich mach mich schon auf dem Weg, Nummer 2 anzufangen...

I´m off to start number 2 on the list...

Sommer Fotos -- Summer Sewing

Sommertermine--viel Rennerei und wenig Nähen aber immerhin habe ich ein bisschen geschafft. Zuerst Christines Lila Quilt in Juli gequiltet (zeige ich später, wenn sie´s mir erlaubt hat :o)) und das letzte Wochenende in Juli haben Shyril, Gerda und ich ein Patchcats Fahne für unsere Patchworkgruppe gepatcht, die ich nach Hause zum Quilten gebracht habe. Der Schlauch z.Hängen nähe ich heute mit der Hand hinten drauf aber sonst ist sie fertig:

In July I quilted Christine´s Purple Circles Quilt for her (will show pics later, if she gives the okay :o)) and then Shyril, Gerda and I patched a banner for our Patchcats group over the last weekend of the month. I brought the banner home, quilted it and it´s more or less finished--except the tunnel for hanging that I´ll sew on quick today:

Letzte Woche habe ich eine Tasche (Professional Tote by The Creative Thimble) endlich probiert die ich schon lange machen wollte--und Renate zur Geburtstag geschenkt:

Peonies / Pfingstrosen -- 1st Block EstherAliu´s BOM12

Viiiiel Arbeit und Blut hat´s gekostet aber ich hab´s erste "Forget Me Not" Block v. Esther Alius BOM 2012 geschafft! Das erste Mal Kleben-Technique für die Nahtzugaben benutzt, verwendete ich Decoupage Kleber und ... hat´s so hart getrocknet (und zu viel vom Kleber benutzt), dass ich ewig brauchte, die Teile mit der Hand zu applizieren (nur mit große Stiche möglich) und 2 Nadeln gebrochen! Ich wollt´s öfter wegwerfen aber doch fertig gebracht. Aber "Roxanne´s Baste It" wird für´s nächste Block probiert, was weich trocknen soll!!! Ich werde meine Pfingstrosen trotzdem ins Quilt nähen, gefällt mir noch und darf ich vielleicht behalten. :o)

 Much sweat and blood went into the making of my first of Esther Aliu´s BOM 2012 "Forget Me Not" block but I finally finished it! It is the first time I´ve tried glued seam allowances for applique and I just used a decoupage glue that´s washable like Elmer´s...but it dried so hard (and I used too much of it) that it took ages to appliqué the nearly 100 pieces by hand (only possible with large stitches)--and I broke two needles in the process! Many times I considered just throwing it away and starting anew...but stuck it out to the end and decided it was worth keeping. In any case, I´m ordering "Roxanne´s Baste It" appliqué glue for the next block, which is supposedly a softer dried edge for appliquéing. I´ll be sewing this block into my quilt anyway and hope it´s one I can keep for myself. :o)

Ich fertigte auch der nächste Quiltauftrag und darf Bilder von Susannes Quilt zeigen. Wegen die viele Zacken wollte ich gerne Rundungen ins Quilten bringen aber bin bei geometrische Muster geblieben (rund und zackig, ein bisschen ketisch), dass er nicht zu unruhig wirkt:

I also finished the next quilting project on my commissions list and now I´m allowed to show you some photos of Susanne´s quilt. I wanted to add some rounded quilting because of all the pointy patchwork in the design but kept to geometric patterns (round integrated into the pointy quilt designs which remind me of celtic patterns) that wouldn´t make it too wild:

Das letzte Foto heute ist vom Beet, wo ich eigentlich mehr arbeiten müsste bevor es zur Dschungel wird... Ganz rechts stehen die verblühten Pfingstrosen die in Mai die dunkle rosa Farben hat; und links davon seht Ihr die helle rosa Pfingstrosen die jetzt blühen. Weil ich beide Farben so gerne habe und nicht entscheiden konnte, welche davon ich für´s BOM Block nehmen soll, habe ich halt gleich beide Farben in meine Appli-Pfingstrosen gemischt. :o)

My last photo of the day shows you my flower garden where I should do more weeding soon before it becomes a jungle... On the far right you see the peony bush (that already bloomed in May) that has dark pink flowers and just left of that is the light pink peony bush that is in bloom now. Since I love both and couldn´t decide which of the two colors I wanted to applique on my BOM block, I just went ahead and mixed both colors--and now I have them both! :o)

Wie bestellt habe ich fast alles in-der-Naht gequiltet und die Federn außenrum gefallen ihr besonders. Hier noch ein paar Nahaufnahmen ihre/unsere Arbeit:

Heute Nacht habe ich der nächste Quiltauftrag fertig gequiltet (Susanne, bald kommt´s! :o)) und muss nur noch ca. 70 lose Fäden knoten/verstecken--und hoffentlich denke ich noch ans Fotografieren bevor ich´s fort schicke. 

Tonight I managed to finish quilting the next commission (soon to be on its way Susanne! :o)) and I only have to knot and bury about 70 loose threads...hopefully I´ll remember to photograph the quilt before sending it on its way!

...und eigentlich habe ich schon eine Menge geschafft--sogar Nähtechnisches--die ich Euch endlich zeigen kann!

Schon in April haben mir Inge und Friedl geholfen, schöne Türkis- und Blautöne auszusuchen, was bei Evi im Wohnzimmer passen wurde und daraus habe ich sie und ihren Mann ein Bargello Tischläufer gemacht (ein Hochzeitsgeschenk, was spät dran ist, weil sie tatsächlich September 2011 heirateten!).


...and I´ve really managed to do a lot--even in the sewing department!--that I´m finally able to show you.

Back in April, Inge and Friedl helped me to choose turquoise and blue fabrics that would match the coloring in Evi´s new living room. The bargello tabletopper I made is a wedding gift made for her and her husband--late, because they married last September!

Danach war ich frei die Auftragsquilts anzufangen und fing mit Jamie´s Quilttop an, die seine Mama Andrea per Hand mit selbst-gefärbte Stoffe patchte. Ich habe das Medallion in-der-Näht gequiltet und eine schwarze gekrönte Federkranz außenrum, was sehr edel wirkt. (Vorm Abgeben habe ich leider das Fotografieren vergessen aber das schwarz-auf-schwarz Quilterei sieht man auf ein Foto sowieso nicht gut--das will gefühlt werden. :o))

After that I was free to start working on the commissions that have been waiting and began with Jamie´s Quilt, hand-patched by his mom using fabrics she dyed herself. I quilted the center medallion in-the-ditch and added a crowned feather wreath around the border--which looks regal! (Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the quilt before delivery, but black-on-black quilting doesn´t show up well on photos anyway--that´s something you want to feel. :o))

 Beim Starburst-quilten habe ich schnell mal die Füße/Nadeln/Faden in der Maschine wechseln müssen, um ein Geburtstagsgeschenk für eine meine liebsten Vierzehnjährigen zu nähen:

In der Zwischenzeit bin ich mit dem VintageFlowersBOM im Verzug (...weil ich seit länger *versuche* Esther Alius erste ForgetMeNot Block halbwegs schön zu fertigen...mehr später!) aber hier ist Block 9, soweit bin ich bis jetzt gekommen:
Meanwhile, I´m behind on the Vintage Flowers BOM (because I´m *trying* to finish Esther Aliu´s first Forget Me Not block halfway decently, more on that later!) but here is the last block I managed to finish to date:

Ein 2. Auftragsquilt ist unterwegs nach Karlsruhe und wenn ich Erlaubnis bekomme, zeige ich Fotos im nächsten Blogeintrag! Ca. 20 AMC Postkarten habe ich auch nebenbei gestickt und ein paar Hosen geflickt...der nächste Auftragsquilt liegt ausgebreitet auf mich, also gehe ich jetzt lieber quilten!
A second commissioned bedquilt (just the quilting) is on its way to Karlsruhe and if I get permission to do so, I can show you some photos of that one next time. Something like 20 AMC postcards got stitched lately as well as a couple of pairs of pants patched up...but the next commissioned quilting project is spread out waiting for me to get stitching, so I´d best be off!

Die Quiltmonsters bewachen mein Quiltstudio...they see everything!

Ich habe auch Geschenke genäht. Zuerst wieder eine "Earl--Tote Katze" für Jim (Bild unten beim letzten Blog Eintrag) und dann ein tragbarer Kissen/Kissenbezug mit Taschen vorne drauf für Werner im Krankenhaus, dass er sein Handy, Taschentücher, Fernbedienung, Stifte, Sudoku und solches beieinander hat...bin gespannt, ob´s doch praktisch im Gebrauch ist. :o)

I´ve also been making gifts. First I made another "Earl--the Dead Cat" for Jim (pictured at the bottom of my last blog post) and then I managed to fashion a pillow with handle and pockets on front for Werner to keep his cellphone, tissues, remote, pens, Sudoku and such together...and I´m looking forward to hearing if it´s actually been practical for him at the hospital assembled as it is... :o)
